About Our Visiting Professor
Michael R. DeBaun, M.D., is the immediate past president of the American Pediatric Society; the J.C. Peterson Endowed Chair of pediatrics at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine; and founder and director of the Vanderbilt-Meharry Sickle Cell Disease Center of Excellence.

DeBaun is an elected member of the National Academy of Medicine. He received the prestigious international 2014 Ernest Beutler Prize and Lecture in Clinical Science from the American Society of Hematology based on his significant contribution to advancing the care of children and adults with sickle cell disease. DeBaun has received two international mentoring awards: the Maureen Andrews Award from the Society of Pediatric 浪花直播 (2017) and the American Society of Hematology Clinical Science 浪花直播 Mentor Award (2019). About the 18th Annual Pediatric Science Day
Pediatric Science Day is an annual event that celebrates pediatric research at Saint 浪花直播 University. In addition to hosting a visiting professor whose career has focused on pediatric research, the symposium will highlight research involving many aspects of child-related health from all campuses at SLU.
