Students in theÌýM.P.H. health management and policyÌýconcentration blend a core management component with advanced public health training to prepare for senior leadership roles in a wide range of public, private and not-for-profit organizations committed to improving health care delivery systems, access to health care services, and reducing risks to the public’s health.Ìý

A joint concentration in epidemiology requires just six additional credit hours and can still be completed in two years. In a data-driven economy where the need for assessment skills is increasingly important, a joint concentration provides the additional skills that future employers will value and the flexibility to do more with your career, particularly if you are interested in research and consulting.

Fieldwork and ÀË»¨Ö±²¥ Opportunities

In addition to other topics, SLU's health care management faculty research:

  • Chronic disease management
  • Health disparities
  • Minority men's health

SLU's M.P.H. program is designed to give students the practical skills needed for any public health career. More than 50% of M.P.H. students work on research projects with faculty outside of a class requirement.

Students complete an internship after their first year of study to gain practical experience in their chosen career. Students have interned in various settings, including local nonprofits, academic research centers, state and federal agencies and multilateral institutions. Students work with the M.P.H internship coordinator and their faculty advisor to identify an appropriate internship in St. ÀË»¨Ö±²¥, nationally or globally.
