Standard Syllabus and Calendar Template  

Please use the standard syllabus/calendar template for all SPS courses, which includes required information across all classes. 

Teaching Contracts and Pay Information 

Please note the following information related to the adjunct compensation for courses taught in the School for Professional Studies:

  • Faculty teaching courses with enrollments of one through 8 students will be paid a per-student rate.
  • Compensation for courses with enrollments of nine or more is based on the adjunct鈥檚:
    • Years of service
    • Terminal degree
    • Course level being taught (undergraduate or graduate)
  • Payment for courses is as follows:
    • Summer 1 courses will be paid in one lump payment in July.
    • Summer 2 courses will be paid in one lump sum in August. 
    • Fall 1 courses are paid in two equal payments (September and October).
    • Fall 2 courses are paid in two equal payments (November and December).
    • Spring 1 courses are paid in two equal payments February and March).
    • Spring 2 courses are paid in two equal payments (April and May).
  • The teaching contract is processed one month before the start of classes if the enrollment is more than nine students at that time.
    • If the enrollment is nine or less at that time, the eMOA is delayed until the course enrollment reaches 10 or the first day of the course to determine the per-student rate.
    • Once the contract is ready to be signed, you will get a notification through Workday. 

SPS Important Dates

General timeline for SPS courses: 

  • Course copied/created, updated and ready for review by director two weeks before official term start date.
  • If applicable, please submit your syllabus to your course director for review two weeks prior to term start date as well. 
  • Course published in Canvas one week prior to official term start date.

To submit your textbook adoptions to the bookstore, please follow these steps: 

  • Log into mySLU
  • Click on 鈥淭ools鈥
  • Click on 鈥淪LU Courses Materials Ordering鈥
  • It will walk you through selecting your course and ordering your textbooks.
