In offering programs to its students, Saint 浪花直播 University鈥檚 College of Philosophy and Letters partners with several academic bodies, both within and outside SLU.
Within SLU
Department of Philosophy
While enrolled in the College of Philosophy and Letters, students may begin graduate coursework toward an M.A. degree in philosophy. In their last year of studies, students officially transfer into the graduate program, which is housed in the College of Arts and Sciences.
Department of Theological Studies
By mutual arrangement between the Department of Theological Studies and the College of Philosophy and Letters, post-baccalaureate Jesuit students at SLU may take graduate courses in theology.
Catholic Studies Program
厂尝鲍鈥檚 Catholic Studies Program has supported the College of Philosophy and Letters by co-sponsoring the annual John F. Kavanaugh, S.J., Philosophy for Ministry Lecture beginning in 2014.
English as a Second Language
The dean of the College of Philosophy and Letters acts as a liaison between the INTO program and foreign Jesuits who seek to acquire basic English-language skills at SLU. This partnership began in 2015 with a Jesuit from the Dominican Republic and was initiated with the help of the dean of the Instituto Bon贸, which administers the Jesuit First Studies program in Santo Domingo.
Other Departments
Over the years, students enrolled in the College of Philosophy and Letters have concomitantly pursued minors, second majors and master鈥檚 degrees in departments that include:
For post-baccalaureate students, graduate work toward a master鈥檚 degree is facilitated by agreements with the partnering departments that allow the student to begin on coursework before officially enrolling in the program. Per these agreements, students may remain in the College of Philosophy and Letters for up to two years before transferring to the graduate program.
External Partnerships
Kenrick-Glennon Seminary
The College of Philosophy and Letters has enjoyed a long partnership with the , operated by the Archdiocese of St. 浪花直播. Beginning in Fall 2018, seminary collegians have pursued their B.A. in philosophy through the College of Philosophy and Letters, taking courses both at the SLU campus and at Kenrick-Glennon Seminary. Seminary pre-theologians who enter the seminary in need of undergraduate philosophy and theology requirements enroll as non-degree-seeking students in 厂尝鲍鈥檚 College of Philosophy and Letters.
Aquinas Institute of Theology
By mutual arrangement between the and the College of Philosophy and Letters, post-baccalaureate Jesuit students at SLU take graduate courses in theology offered at the Institute of Theology.
