Application Process
The Saint 浪花直播 University (Southwest Illinois) Family Medicine Residency is considered one program with two different applicant types.
Civilian Applicants
Applicant interviews are an important part of the match process and are by invitation only. Applicants who will be considered for interviews must:
- Have passed Step I of the USMLE (United States Medical Licensing Examination) or the COMLEX I (The Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Licensing Examination) and Step II CK/COMLEX II CE. Limit two attempts for each step.
- Have had at least six months contact with U.S. medicine. (Observerships do not meet the requirement.)
- Be within two years of graduation from medical school.
- Have submitted a completed application consisting of three letters of recommendation (one from a primary care physician), board scores, personal statement, transcripts and dean's letter/MSPE.
- We cannot sponsor H1 or H4 visas. We do sponsor J1 visas.
Applications will be released to programs Sept. 25, 2024. Interviews are held starting a week after application release, through the end of January. Interview invitations will be sent out in waves as we continue to review applications. We only accept Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) submissions. Our deadline is Nov. 1, 2024.
To ensure a fair process for all civilian applicants, follow ERAS guidelines, and dedicate our time to reviewing all applications, please do not submit a Letter of Interest, but please let us know if something on your application is incorrect. For the 2024-2025 year, we will be accepting civilian rotation requests scheduled for November to January on a case-by-case basis. Please email us at slubfmrecruit@gmail.com with an introduction about who you are and a description of your rotation request. Attaching a CV for review is also encouraged. Your request will be discussed between the program coordinator and program director prior to approval.
Our NRMP code is 1365120C0. Please make sure that you put down the correct code when ranking. We cannot alter match listings in the event that an applicant puts down the wrong residency code. Please verify this prior to certifying your final rank order list.
Air Force Applicants
Applications for military applicants are processed through the Joint Service Graduate Medical Education Selection Board (JSGMESB). We have begun scheduling rotations for this year.
To arrange a rotation and/or interview in 2024 (for the 2025 match),. If you only wish to do an interview and not a rotation, please be sure to specify that on the form.
The month of July is when our program guides all of our new interns to transition from medical students to interns. To give both our interns and medical students sufficient attention, we may not be able to allow audition rotations in early July. In addition, please be mindful of any new ADT requirements set in place for Air Force applicants prior to submitting your request. If there is insufficient space, ADT rotations will be given priority over non-ADT rotations. However, we are still allowing non-ADT rotations where space is available.
Note that this is for those who plan on participating in the Air Force match. Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences students from other branches should complete the request form and reach out to the coordinator at slubfmrecruit@gmail.com for rotation approval.
We look forward to getting to know you!
