Health Management Minor to be Offered to Undergraduate Students, Beginning Fall 2024

Saint 浪花直播 University鈥檚 College for Public Health and Social Justice will begin offering the new health management minor, requiring just 18 credits to completion.

New for the 2024-25 school year, undergraduate students at Saint 浪花直播 University will be able to add a to complement their primary course of study. This minor is a choice for students who seek to supplement their primary field of study with training in the health care system.

With the help of content learned in this minor, pre-health students will be able to add to their studies by gaining insight into the structures and systems in which they will work as future clinicians.

Business oriented students may also be interested in exploring the minor, as it focuses on major business concepts and strategies within the field of health care.

The minor provides students with an introduction to the structure and management of the U.S. healthcare system.  Throughout their coursework, students examine challenges that impact delivery of care, such as those related to organization, finance, policy, and operations.

"We're so excited to offer this new minor in the College for Public Health and Social Justice.  This is a great opportunity for students interested in clinical careers, healthcare, business, and/or leadership to add to their undergrad experience by using a social justice lens to gain a foundation in the management of the U.S. healthcare system," said director of undergraduate public health programs and associate professor Lauren Arnold, Ph.D.

The minor in health management includes six credits of required coursework that introduces students to the healthcare system and management of health care organizations. Students then select 12 credits of elective coursework that includes topics such as health care economics, health care marketing, health care operations, health care financial management, and more.
