In this new role, Schaller will support the Institutional Examen review process, a one year period of reflection and discernment of Jesuit identity and commitment for the University, adopted by the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities (AJCU) in Spring 2016. In addition to maintaining her faculty role in the School of Education, Schaller will expand faculty and staff development programs related to the Office of Mission and Identity and develop an Ignatian Leadership Formation program.

Schaller previously worked at the University of Dayton for 28 years where she served in a variety of roles including as a department chair, faculty member, fellow in the learning and teaching center and as a student affairs professional. She has 15 years of experience in faculty development, and extensive experience in mission, identity and leadership development work.

鈥淚n my role as interim dean of the School of Education, I have tried to place mission and identity at the forefront of our decisions about curriculum, service and research,鈥 Schaller said. 鈥淚 believe that each member of our community can benefit from this invitation to find their place in the University鈥檚 mission, grounded in the Jesuit charism. I find myself called to this role and am looking forward to the work ahead.鈥

Collins noted Schaller鈥檚 expertise as an asset to the position.

鈥淚 am delighted that Dr. Schaller will be able to bring her passion and expertise to assist us with the ongoing needs that we have for faculty and staff formation for mission,鈥 Collins said. 鈥淪he will be a great asset to the whole university in addition to her role as a faculty member in the School of Education.鈥
